2019 Year in Review

2019 Year in Review

We’re already well into 2020, but there’s still time to gather our thoughts and look back on a really positive 2019 for Brown & Brown.

Completed Projects

Hugely pleased to finish projects at Hollysyde, Cornival, The Firs and Hilldowntree Mill. As you’ll see on our case study, the Hollysyde build extended the rear of a Victorian house in the Highlands - connecting the home with the garden and seamlessly joining the old to the new. Meanwhile, at The Firs in Aberdeen’s West End, we were particularly happy with the Siberian larch exterior and the spacious kitchen within.

Planning Approved

As work continues on active builds and we put the finishing touches on completed projects, it’s just as exciting to progress work through the planning stages, and so we look forward to a variety of approved sites across the country. These include Kippford (Dumfries and Galloway), Seamill (North Ayrshire), Borve (Isle of Lewis), Ballater (Aberdeenshire), Forres (Moray) and a variety of Aberdeen and Inverness projects.

On Site

Getting boots on the ground is always a good feeling, and we’ve got exciting work underway at Lower Tullochgrue, Marleden, Riverview, Culbo (near Dingwall), Spyon Cop, Aberdeen, Inverness and Gorthleck (by Loch Mhòr, Highlands), along with the aforementioned Seamill and Kippford sites.

Spyon Cop is one of our most frequently complimented projects - a black Siberian larch and corten steel house with huge windows - designed to ensure its inhabitants can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of its Cairngorms surroundings in comfort and warmth. And then there’s the small matter of a quite spectacular hanging stove. Updates to follow as these builds progress.

New Studio

Something we’ve been working on for a while - and you’ll be intimately familiar with if you follow our social media - is a new place for Brown & Brown to call home. Our new architecture studio in Strathdon is nearing completion, and it feels highly motivating to mark this new decade with a brand new place to work, built to our own design and specifications.

New Staff

We have just added to the Brown & Brown team, and we’ll be going into more detail in due course. Safe to say, we’re really excited to grow and bring fresh perspective and ideas into the fold - watch this space for more on our new recruit.

Prospects

If all of that wasn’t keeping us busy enough, we also have a raft of exciting new commissions which we’re looking forward to getting started on.
