Lower Tullochgrue in Wallpaper*

Our recently completed Lower Tullochgrue project was featured by Wallpaper* this week — the first time a Brown & Brown project has been spotlighted in their Architecture section.

‍

In a uniquely spectacular location with remarkable views of the Cairngorms National Park, our completed extension and refurbishment was recently photographed by Dapple — capturing it beautifully against a backdrop of wintry landscapes and snowy woodlands.

"We celebrate Brown & Brown Architects’ elevating intervention at a traditional Highlands house in Scotland..."

‍

Among the aspects highlighted are the materials (reclaimed local natural stone, natural slate, Siberian larch timber and blackened stainless steel) used, the cantilevered extension (doubling as a 'carport' for the clients’ 1960s Ford Falcon beneath it, of course) and the heat-pump system that ensures the house can be divided into 'heating zones' during periods of lower occupancy — part of an overall commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable architecture.

All of these features are key to the overall success of Lower Tullochgrue — and this article has added to the pleasure of having recently completed a project we're very proud of.
